FIFA: Brand protection entry indicates the future title
In a recent press release, EA Sports informed that the FIFA series could appear in the future under a new name. Currently, the agreement is reviewed on the FIFA naming rights separated by all existing partnerships and licenses.
How exactly the FIFA franchise could be called in the future, the responsible persons did not give known. Now a brand protection entry points to the possibly new titles. Accordingly, the world-famous football simulation could be distributed as of the next year under the name EA SPORTS FC.
The video game developer recently registered this brand at the British Office for Intellectual Property and the Office of the European Union for Intellectual Property. However, it is still unclear whether Electronic Arts really will decide for a change in the name. Until the time has come, there could also be a lot of time and other titles be registered.
Current name probably too expensive
The reason behind it would probably be the high cost of using the FIFA title. Next year, the license agreement ends, which is why those responsible are now thinking.
Konami has also opted for a renaming of the on-site football series. Pro Evolution Soccer listens now now on the name Efootball 2022 and is offered for free. However, quality and scope of the game are modest. On Steam it has taken the place as the worst rated game. FIFA 22 is again a huge success again and stormed among other things in the UK at the top of the charts.
